Paige Cote and her parents made the short ride from Sanford, Me to Durham, NH to tell Head Coach Maureen Magarity in person of her decision to accept a scholarship at UNH today. A 6’3” center, Cote is a Junior with good speed, skills, and physicality in her third year with the Maine Firecrackers.

Cote was the starting center on the Firecrackers 15u National team last year and stepped into the starting position on the 16u National team this season, playing a big role in the teams 22-2 record to date. During her Junior season at Sanford HS, Cote averaged 17.6 points and 9.2 rebounds and was named First Team All-SMAA Conference.

In addition to the UNH opportunity, Cote was also offered scholarships at Merrimack, Elon, Holy Cross, St. Anselms, and Hofstra. She generated significant interest after an outstanding performance at the Nike Tournament in Chicago last July. Firecracker Coach Brian Clement said, “Paige came to our program three years ago with high goals and a willingness to work hard. She battled through difficult practices and moments of adversity to improve significantly and become a player recruited by many schools. She is a hard worker and excellent student who has made herself into a coveted player and as talented as she is, I believe her best days are ahead of her.”

Cote will follow Sarah Clement and Ashley Storey to become the third Firecracker to accept a scholarship for the Wildcats and is the third Junior in the Firecracker Program to accept a scholarship this year after Brooke Obar and Maggie Whitmore committed to Bentley University.
