One of the more heavily recruited female players in Maine high school history, Junior Allie Clement of the Maine Firecrackers and McAuley high school verbally committed to attend Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY today.

Clement led the Firecrackers to an AAU D2 National Championship in 2011 and played an integral role in three consecutive state championships at McAuley High School. The 2013 Maine Gatorade player of the year, Clement led the SMAA in scoring and was a 3 time All State selection. Clement and Parise Rossignol were the first freshman since Cindy Blodgett to be selected All State by the Bangor Daily News.

Womens Basketball

-Have won 10 straight MAAC Conference Titles and been to 8 consecutive NCAA Tnmts.

-Conference record in the past 3 years is 62-1 with average margin of victory 19.7 pts.

– Finished 2013 season ranked 49th out of 345 Div I teams, ahead of Hartford (50), Boston University(82), Boston College (87), Holy Cross (201), and Maine (322) as rated by Jeff Sagarin/USA Today.

– Coach Brian Giorgis has the 4th highest winning percentage (.775)amongst active Division 1 Coach (behind Mulkey at Baylor, Auriemma at UConn, and Vanderveer at Stanford)

– Was selected USA Basketball assistant coach for the 2013 World games and will coach with Coquese Washington of Penn St and Sheri Coal of Oklahoma.

-Marist had the 6th toughest non-conference schedule in the country, playing #2 UConn, #12 Purdue, #12 Oklahoma, and #7 Kentucky.

– Averaging 2000 fans per game, the Marist women out draw the men at Marist and 9 out of the 10 men’s schools in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)
