Mary Butler Receives Scholarship Offer
This weekend Mary Butler made the trip to Worcester to visit Holy Cross with her family and returned with a full scholarship offer from the highly respected Patriot League school. Assistant coach Ann McInerney and Head Coach Bill Gibbons both noticed Mary watching the Firecrackers play during the D1 viewing period in September. Over 30 division one and division two coaches along with 25 division three coaches watched the Firecrackers play in Septemer.
Firecracker Coach Brian Clement said “Mary is a talented, hard working and athletic player who has been quickly accepted by her teammates because of her great attitude, humilty, and unselfishness. She is also a high level student in the classroom. After several conversations with the Holy Cross coaches I knew this could be a good fit.”
Butler, a Junior from Bangor who led her team to an Eastern Maine Regional Championship, was named All-State by the Bangor Daily News her sophomore year, joined the Firecrackers in August. Marys sister Katie is also a member of the Firecracker Freshman team coached by Don Briggs.
