10 Firecrackers named to Hoops 8 all-state preseason teams
Willerson and Esposito honored to all-state first team
Jess Willerson (McAuley) and Emily Esposito (Gorham) headlined a list of 10 Maine Firecrackers selected to WMTW Hoops 8 all-state preseason teams, both being named to the first team earlier today.
Willerson, headed to Cornell University next season, averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds as a junior at McAuley. Esposito, a junior, is the returning SMAA Player of the Year.
McAuley’s Sarah Clement and MDI’s Sierra Tapley were named to the all-state second team. Clement (New Hampshire) and Tapley (Maine) will both play in the NCAA Division I America East next season.
Ninth-grade guard Anna DeWolfe, of Greely, was selected to the all-state third team.
Earning honorable mention honors were Eva Mazur (McAuley), Kelsey Shaw (MDI), Danasia Fennie (Gorham), Brie Wajer (Lincoln), and Alex Hart (Thornton). Shaw is headed to Stonehill on a full scholarship next season.
