Towle commits to Williams
Since she started grade school Kaleisha Towle has been successful in the classroom and athletically in every sport she participated in. Also a standout Track and Volleyball player, last year Kaleisha selected basketball as her sport in college and after many college visits and a lot of discussion with her parents (Rick and Deb), she decided Williams was her top choice. Today Williams Head Coach Pat Manning made her verbal offer and the 6’0 South Portland forward promptly accepted.
Firecracker 16u Head Coach Brian Clement said, “Kaleisha is one of those kids who has always been mature. She is a vocal leader, a versatile athlete, and she has an outstanding motor in addition to being talented and a pleasure to coach. She will well represent the Firecrackers and the State of Maine at Williams and get a tremendous education.”
Towle joined the Firecrackers her freshman year and is a tireless worker in practice and in games. Last year she and Paige Cote were a formidable duo in the post on the Firecracker 15u National team that had a lot of success and this year they have played huge roles in the 16u National team that has only lost two games all season. At South Portland, Towle helped lead her Red Riots to the #1 seed in AA South. Her ability to play on both sides of the ball in the post or perimeter is part of what made her coveted by several colleges.
With an acceptance rate of just 15%, Williams is one of the most selective colleges in the country and is considered one of the top academic institutions in the world. In 2018-2019 the Ephs finished 11-14 while going 5-5 in the NESCAC.
