Camille Clement Commits
Camille Clement has been around the Firecracker program since birth. Most weekends in Fall and Spring were spent in gyms cheering for her sisters (Allie and Sarah) until she was 9 years old and finally had the opportunity to play on her own Firecracker team, coached by Steve Huntington.
Over the years, Camille watched as her older sisters committed to Marist and UNH.
Today was her day…she spent the weekend on an unofficial visit and waited patiently for her parents (Brian and Carolyn) to arrive by train to tell them she is ready to commit to Northeastern University, coached by Kelly Cole, former teammate of Camille’s Aunt (Joanne McCallie) from Northwestern.
Clement was named Third Team Western Maine All Conference as a freshman and helped her Greely team get over the top to win the Class A State Championship, averaging 16 points per game. As a Sophomore she was First Team WMC, Third Team All-State by Bangor Daily News, and All-State for Maine Sunday Telegram after averaging 17 points per game while making 54 three pointers.
Firecracker founder Don Briggs said “I am so proud of Camille. It hasn’t always been easy for her given her sisters prior success but the best part is she earned it and took her own path, being true to herself. She stayed the course and just played, becoming one of the best shooters our program (if not the best) has ever produced.”
Briggs continued, “the path for these opportunities is not easy, comes with a lot of sacrifice and commitment, and maintaining a positive attitude. Camille was willing to put in the extra hours and allowed herself to be coached to a high standard. It’s a great day for the Clement family.”
Northeastern is a selective academic school in Boston and a member of the Colonial Athletic Conference. The Huskies finished 20-12 in the 2018-2019 season.
