Allie Clement named Miss Maine Basketball 2014

MISS MAINE BASKETBALL: Allie Clement – Catherine McAuley High School

Few players in the state’s rich basketball history can match the winning legacy of Catherine McAuley’s Allie Clement.

In four years, Allie won 85 of 88 games, including 56 in a row. She capped that near-perfect career with a perfect 16-0 tournament record and four Class A state championships. She was the Western A tournament’s most outstanding player as a junior and senior and named 2013 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year.

This season, the 5’8” guard captured her second consecutive conference scoring title and was named the SMAA Player of the Year after averaging 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. She was a three-time SMAA All-Star while tallying 1,374 career points.

The daughter of Brian and Carolyn Clement, Allie has accepted a basketball scholarship from Marist College.

DUSTIN COLE AND ALLIE CLEMENT NAMED
MR. AND MISS MAINE BASKETBALL 2014

BANGOR, Maine (March 7, 2014) – This evening, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) unveiled the recipients of the 2014 Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball. The announcement was made at the Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games awards banquet at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

Allie Clement of Catherine McAuley High School was crowned Miss Maine Basketball. Mr. Basketball honors went to Dustin Cole of Bonny Eagle High School. (Biographies are below.)

“This is the highest individual award presented to a male and female basketball player in the state,” explained Mike Giordano, president of the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches. “It is awarded for commitment, dedication and excellence throughout the players’ high school careers.”

Other finalists for the honor of Miss Basketball were Tiana-Jo Carter of Lake Region High School and Parise Rossignol of Martin Van Buren High School.

The other finalists for the title of Mr. Basketball included Zachary Gilpinand Isaiah Bess, both of Hampden Academy.

Also honored at the MABC Awards Banquet were the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Players, Regional Foul Shooting Champions, All-Star Coaches, members of the All-State Academic Team, the Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award recipients, Team of the Year recipients, MABC Contributor Award honoree, and the MABC Media Award honoree.

The 2014 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games marks McDonald’s 26th consecutive year as lead sponsor of this event. This year’s games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 9th. Game day tickets are good for all four Games and may be purchased at the door. Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and children.
