Firecracker Victoria Lux Verbally Commits to Bentley University
On April 30, 2014,Victoria Lux ’15 made the journey to Waltham, MA to visit Bentley University and decided to tell Coaches Barbara Stevens and C White that she intends to be a Falcon. Lux has been recruited by Bentley for two years along with a multitude of other D2 schools, including, St. Anselm College and Southern NH University and D1 schools: Fairfield, Marist, BU. All have coveted the 6’1″ post player from Arundel, ME. Vic was a key component to the Firecrackers’ 2009 AAU D2 National Runner-Up finish and has anchored the post during the last 3 McAuley Maine State High School Championship wins.
Bentley won the 2014 D2 National Championship after 5 prior Final Four appearances. Head Coach Barbara Stevens was the 2013 National DII Coach of the Year and is the winningest Division 2 coach in NCAA history. She is one of only 5 college basketball coaches (male or female) at any level to win over 900 games.
Firecracker 16u Head Coach Brian Clement said, “Victoria is a very committed young woman who is one of the best post passers I have ever seen at her age. She is a player that understands the importance of rebounding and being physical. The outstanding coaching staff at Bentley will utilize her physical gifts and skills to take her to another level. I believe she will be an outstanding college player and Bentley is a wonderful fit for her athletically, academically, and socially. They got a unique post player.”
Vic’s older sister Vanessa had an outstanding career at Bentley and her husband Marty is employed in the Athletic Dept at Bentley, further making it an attractive choice along with it’s outstanding academic reputation.
Lux is the first member of the 16u (Firecracker Clement) to verbally commit. Four other players currently have scholarship offers while all are being heavily recruited.
