Firecracker Hannah Graham Receives Scholarship Offer
Presque Isle standout Hannah Graham, Class of 2015, joined the Maine Firecrackers in March and has quickly attracted the attention of many college coaches in the Northeast due to her size, skills, athleticism, and attitude. Last weekend Graham played in front of a dozen Division II and III coaches at St. Anselm’s College and accepted an invitation by Head Coach Karen Pinkos to visit Southern New Hampshire University later that day. At the end of her visit Coach Pinkos offered the 5’10” guard a full scholarship to study and play basketball alongside the Merrimack River in New Hampshire.
Graham was a standout in Presque Isle’s 64 game winning streak that captured State Championships her freshman and sophomore years. In her junior year, Graham averaged 17.7 points, 4.5 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds per game while being named to the Bangor Daily News All-State Second Team. The Wildcats advanced to the Eastern Maine final before falling short to Mount Desert Island.
SNHU is a private institution with 11,000 students and is a member of the Northeast 10 Conference, along with most of the Division II schools in the Northeast. Though SNHU had never made post season play previously, Coach Pinkos led the Penmen to six Northeast 10 tournament appearances in her first nine years. In 2012 SNHU posted a 19-12 mark and garnered votes for the DII top 25 polls in the nation. Pinkos was an all-conference player at the University of New Hampshire before entering the coaching world, where she served as an assistant at Boston College, UNH, and Providence before taking the helm at SNHU.
