7th Graders Win Zero Gravity National Tournament to Finish Season
A Great weekend in Boston had by all !!!
With our last weekend of play this season, a scrappy bunch of young ladies took to Boston and competed in the Zero Gravity National Finals. With an injury to one, and the request of three others to move up and help out one of the older squads in New York, we were left a bit short in numbers to play in a full tournament. So the call came to a couple younger players from the 6th grade squad to move up and help us out and…..Wow, they did much more than that. They were both “Animals” on both ends of the court. A Big thank you to Maggie and Julz !!
20 teams in our division and on paper were we the best team…..?
Probably not, but like the Firecracker way they stuck together, never getting too high or too low. Coming from behind in a few games they showed poise, determination and as always stayed humble. Winning a 1 point game, erasing a 9-0 and 10-1 start were just a few of the adversities they faced in route to a 4-0 pool play record. Looking a bit ‘gassed’ after their second game on Sunday to finish pool play, they dug down and found their second wind and it was Lights Out in the semifinal & Championship game.
I know I speak for all the parents, it was wild ride and they made us all proud. Even little Annie Whitmore was happy and excited, as you can see in the attached photo.
Thank you to ALL the Firecracker coaches and administrators for everything you do for each and every girl in this program.
