It’s Official – Hannah Graham to Bowdoin

Hannah Graham of Caribou declined two Division II scholarship offers for the opportunity to get a Bowdoin education and play for Coach Adrienne Shibles in their storied program. Graham garnered significant interest from schools of all divisions after playing for the Maine Firecrackers following her junior year but decided the best academic, social, and basketball fit was to bring her silky smooth stroke to Brunswick.

The 5’10” senior averaged 17.7 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game last year while leading her Presque Isle team to the Eastern Maine Class B finals and earning 2nd team All-State recognition by the Bangor Daily News (BDN). She was also Big East Player of the Year and a member of the BDN All-Tournament team. The Wildcats finished 20-1 and racked up a 65 game winning streak dating back to Graham’s freshman year.

As a freshman, Graham was a key contributor in the Presque Isle State Championship run and was selected to the BDN All- Tournament team. In her sophomore year she averaged 11 points and 3 assists as Presque Isle won its second consecutive Class B state title.

Graham made the weekly five hour commute to practices for the opportunity to play for the Firecrackers and enhance her exposure opportunities. She was rewarded with her play from a significant following of college coaches. “Hannah was quickly embraced by her Firecracker teammates because of her commitment, humility, work ethic, unselfishness and ability to make an impact on the court. Within the first month of playing for us I received dozens of inquiries from college coaches about her. I think she has all the tools to have an outstanding career at Bowdoin and will very much enjoy playing for Coach Shibles, who is one of the top Division III coaches in the country, in my opinion.”

When asked about her decision, Graham replied “What’s not to love about Bowdoin? I fell in love with the campus, the people, and the sense of community.” Regarding her time with the Firecrackers, she noted “The intense practices expanded my game on both sides of the ball and playing for the Firecrackers gave me opportunities I couldn’t have dreamed of. They provided me with a new family basically, and friendships that will last a lifetime.”
