Abby Hamilton’ 15 Commits to Wheaton

Abby Hamilton of Gorham, ME (Gorham High School) has been accepted at Wheaton College and has committed to play basketball for Boothbay, ME native and Head Coach Melissa Hodgdon. A six year standout and popular member of the Maine Firecrackers, the sharpshooting Hamilton was a key cog in the Firecrackers 2011 AAU Nationals 2nd place finish.

Before tearing her ACL in January of her junior year, Hamilton was 5th in the SMAA in scoring with a 15.1 ppg average and was leading the league in made 3 pointers. She was named 2nd team All-Conference after being selected to the All-Rookie team her freshman year. She also finished third in the conference in free throw percentage at 82% in her inaugural season. Hamilton also excelled in the classroom as evidenced by her 3.8 GPA.

Located in Norton Massachusetts, Wheaton is a selective school with enrollment of 1,600 students. It is a member of the NEWMAC Conference along with Springfield, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Coast Guard, MIT, Babson, and Clark.

Hamilton noted the proximity, academic reputation, and desire to play for the energetic and enthusiastic Coach Hodgdon in her choice.
