Firecrackers wrap up successful fall season in Dirigo League

Teams prepare for school basketball season by participating in fall league

Three Firecracker teams recently wrapped up a successful fall season in the Dirigo League, which featured weekend games against older competition.

“We had a productive fall,” said coach Brian Clement. “The teams worked hard and had good competition against a variety of opponents. This should serve as great preparation for the travel and school team season.”

Prior to closing the season in a play-off format, the 7th and 8th grade Firecrackers finished with a practice full of shooting, passing and dribbling competitions. The 7th grade team finished the fall season with a 6-6 record, playing in the high school JV division. The 8th grade team, meanwhile, posted a 5-7 record in the high school varsity division.

The 5th grade Firecrackers, playing against 6th grade teams, finished the fall season with a 3-3 record.

Camille Clement (Falmouth), Julia Colby (Norway), Serena Mower (Auburn), Brooke Obar (Cumberland), and Maggie Whitmore (South Portland) were selected to play in the Dirigo League All-Star Game.
