12U Firecrackers win YES Summer Freshman League Play-Offs

The U12 Firecracker Team, #2 seed, came into the Yes League Freshman playoffs with a 5-2 record, losing twice to the top seed during the regular season. In the first game tonight, the Firecracker cruised past the #3 seed with a score of 45- 28. Sarah Clement had 16 points with two 3 point shots while Jess Willerson was a force underneath adding 15 points. This win put the Firecrackers in the championship game against the top seeded Yes Team.

The U12 Firecracker team was fired up to play the top seed for the third time this season. They came out playing an intense full court man to man defense which quickly put them up 8-0.  The Firecrackers continued to play tough defense throughout the half holding the Yes Team to just 8 points in the first half. They went into the half with a 10 point lead. The Firecrackers continued to work hard on both ends. Sarah Clement hit two consecutive 3 point shots in the 3 quarter which helped the Firecrackers pull away. Sarah Clement led all scorers tonight with 21 points while Jess Willerson added 10 and Julia Brogan 5. Baldwin scored 17 points for the Yes Team. The Firecracker defense proved to be too much for the top seeded Yes Team and the Firecrackers came out with a 40-24 victory and the Yes Summer League Championship title.
