Firecrackers Play a Big Part as High School Season Begins
As the Girls High School Basketball season gets underway in Maine, the Firecracker girls are once again likey to be key players on their High School teams. Evidence of this can be seen in the newspaper coverage in the Portland Press Herald.
In an article looking at the rising number of Maine girls being offered Division One scholarships, HS Juniors and Firecrackers Allie Clement, Olivia Smith and Olivia Shaw are all mentioned. The article states that all three girls are being recruited by multiple D1 schools. All three girls were also among the 10 players singled out by the Herald as “Players to Watch”.
In a broader sense, the Herald’s Season Preview gave a sense of the overall standard of basketball being played in the Firecracker program. Almost without exception, the girls playing in the two senior Firecracker teams (who are HS juniors and sophmores) were all identified as being key contributors to their HS program this season.
