Firecrackers Shine at AAU State Tournament

Highlights of 2013 AAU State Championships
Six teams entered the Maine State AAU Championships this weekend at USM in Gorham. All six teams advanced to the championship game in their division, with the 5th Graders (Huntington), 7th Graders (Ingegneri), and 8th Graders (Hart, playing in the 9th division) all winning titles. Finishing second were the 4th Grade (Blethen), 6th Grade (DeWolfe) and 10th Grade (Ewald) teams – their losses by a combined 9 points.

The Firecrackers were the only girls program to win more than one state title and the support for the teams was amazing as the courts were lined with “sister” teams cheering wildly in what was a great overall atmosphere.

Thanks to all the coaches, parents, and friends who were so supportive. There were times when the crowd looked like a sea of orange and the noise was deafening. It was a great “family” feel throughout the weekend.
