4th Graders Step Up, Reach Out, and Give Back
It is an honor to report that the Maine Firecrackers 4th grade team, parents and players organized a foul shooting shoot-a-thon last week, to raise money to help people affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013. Our players reached out to family and friends, who pledged donations for every foul shot each of our players made out of 50 foul shots. Through their generous support and our girls efforts to make as many foul shots as possible, our team raised $1,030 for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
We plan to send this contribution to the One Fund Boston, Inc. organized by Massachusetts Governor, Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor, Tom Menino, along with a brief explanation of who we are as a Firecracker organization and what we have done to support their larger effort to help others.
Special thanks to our parents for supporting and organizing this effort and a hearty congratulations to the players for their participation in such a worthy cause. This is a great lesson for our players, in lending a hand to those in need.
Respectfully,
Coach Blethen
